To ensure your outreach event is a success, you will need a team to organize the event and gather around ten people to best assist the homeless in your area.
1. COMMUNICATION Create a group on social media to promote your outreach event. Volunteers will know what to do, when to do it, and where to go to contribute to your charitable efforts.
2. ORGANIZE YOUR SUPPLIES For your outreach, you will need provisions, food, and water. You can purchase consumables in bulk from a wholesaler, saving money through economies of scale. The most efficient approach is to set a budget and create a fundraiser so that your volunteers can contribute both by their presence and/or by donating for essential items and water bottles (crucial during hot weather). Estimate the amount of supplies needed based on the number of homeless people expected to attend your event.
3. OBTAIN THE NECESSARY PERMITS To organize an event, you need the approval of the town hall. Without it, the police may disband your gathering, and you could receive a fine. Fortunately, acts of generosity are easily accepted by French town halls. Schedule an appointment with your local town hall to ensure everything is in order.
4. PROMOTE YOUR OUTREACH EVENT If you have followed our advice so far, you are ready to distribute your provisions. However, you now need to inform those in need that you are organizing an outreach event (whether stationary or mobile). Spend some time in the city distributing flyers or spreading the word about your event through word-of-mouth. It would be unfortunate to organize an event without anyone to help.
Especially for stationary outreach events, your supplies will be stored in one location. Unfortunately, ill-intentioned individuals may attempt to steal provisions. Keep a few people on hand to monitor that no one takes more than their share of limited supplies and to protect against theft.
