The Eternal Reign

ree
“The Lord reigns, he is clothed with majesty. The Lord is clothed, he is girded with strength. Surely the world stands firm, it cannot be moved.” – Psalm 93:1

An eternal truth

In a world where everything is changing, where kingdoms rise and fall, where leaders pass and systems falter, only one truth remains: the Lord reigns . This is not a mere poetic or religious affirmation. It is a profound spiritual reality, an anchor for the soul, a sure and solid hope for all who believe in Him.

When we declare that God reigns, we affirm that His authority is supreme , His power is limitless , and His justice is perfect . He rules not only the heavens, but also the earth, circumstances, history… and our lives.

A reign of love and justice

Unlike the kings of this world, God does not rule by oppression or fear. He rules by love , truth , and grace . His throne is founded on justice. He is not a distant tyrant, but a close, compassionate, and faithful Father.

Jesus Christ, the image of the invisible God, came to manifest this reign on earth. He healed the sick, lifted up the poor, and forgave sinners. Through Him, we see a King who bends down, who washes the feet of His disciples, who gives His life for others.

The reign of God today

Many think that the reign of God is solely a future reality, an eschatological event. But Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21). The reign of God begins in our hearts. Every time we choose love over hatred, forgiveness over revenge, truth over lies, we participate in that reign.

When we pray “Thy kingdom come,” we are not just talking about the end times. We are asking God to reign in our thoughts , in our decisions , in our homes , in our world .

Hope for tomorrow

A day will come when this reign will be fully visible. The Book of Revelation tells us of a glorious moment when “ the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever ” (Revelation 11:15). This is not a distant dream, but a sure promise.

In a world fractured by war, injustice, and fear, this promise gives us the strength to stand firm. The Lord never loses control. He reigns. He always has reigned. And he will reign forever.
