Five steps to a successful outreach

To ensure your outreach is a success, you'll need people to help organize the event. You'll need to gather a good ten or so people to best assist the homeless in your area.

1- COMMUNICATION

You will therefore need to create a group on social media and promote your outreach event.

This will help volunteers know what to do, when and where to go to contribute to your charity.

2 - ORGANIZE YOUR SUPPLIES

For your outreach, you will need supplies, food, and water. You can purchase consumables in bulk from a wholesaler, thus benefiting from economies of scale.

The most effective approach is to set a budget and create a fundraising campaign so that your volunteers can contribute both through their presence and/or by donating essential supplies such as water bottles (crucial during periods of intense heat).

Make an estimate of the amount of supplies you are bringing in compared to the number of homeless people who will attend your event.

3 - HAVE YOUR AUTHORIZATION IN PROPER FORMAT

To organize an event, you will need the agreement of the town hall, otherwise the police will dismantle your gathering and you will have a fine on top of that.

Fortunately for you, acts of generosity are easily accepted by French town halls. Make an appointment with your local town hall and you'll be all set.

4 - PUBLISH YOUR OUTREACH ACTIVITY

If you have followed our advice so far, you are all set to distribute your supplies. But now you need to let people in need know that you will be organizing a food distribution drive (either from a fixed location or a mobile unit).

Spend some time in the city distributing flyers or spreading the word about your event through word of mouth.

It would be a shame to want to help without having anyone to help.

5 - SECURE THE OUTREACH ACTIVITY FOR PROPER FUNCTIONING

Especially when it comes to a fixed outreach program, your supplies will be stored in one place. Unfortunately, malicious individuals could take advantage of this to steal them.

Keep a few people on hand to make sure no one cheats by taking multiple times from supplies that are limited to you and/or to protect you from theft.
